If your child is able to skip count by 1, 2 ,3 , 4, or 5, (memorized), then it will be much easier for him/her to grasp the concept of multiplication.
Goals of the chapter include:
- relate multiplication to addition and to skip counting
- know when to multiply
- create and solve multiplication problems
- solve problems by making a model
- multiply using repeated addition and equal groups
- multiply by skip counting
- learn vocabulary related to multiplication (multiply, multiplication, times, factor, product, multiples, array)
- use mirrors to show equal groups
- use a number-line to show skip counting and relate it to multiplication sentences
- create drawings to describe multiplication
- use arrays to model and solve multiplication problems
- problem solve using multiplication
